Welcome to NBBCA Shakomata

The North Bank Baptist Christian association (NBBCA) was formed on February 13, 1950 at Dholaibil Baptist Church under the initiative of the then missionaries of American Baptist Foreign Mission Society(ABFMS) USA. The first executive secretary was missionary of Baptist General conference Rev. Earnest Kratofil.
Before the formation of NBBCA two first believer's groups were established by two local evangelists Nathaniel Horo and John Bhengra sent by missonary C.E. Patric from Sibsagar, at Joyhing Tea Estate and Angarkhua village in 1886 nearby North Lakhimpur. First missionary Rev. John Firth came to North Lakhimpur in 1893 he planted two first Churches at Joyhing Tea Estate and Angarkhua village. He proclaimed the Gospel from Lakhimpur to Orang the undivided Darrang District (presently Udalguri District). After that more Baptist churches were planted in the north bank of river Brahmaputra, Assam. Because of his and his team's hard work there were 121 Churches at the time of the formation of NBBCA. Before formation of NBBCA there were three local associations namely Lakhimpur Baptist Christian Association founded in 1902, Darrang Baptist Christian Association founded in 1902 and Mangaldai Baptist Christian Association founded in 1915.
Presently there are eight constituent association, 1111 Churches with 85901 baptized members and about 1,60,000 including communicant members.
